Routes

How we move cargo from Kazakhstan

Rail in Kazakhstan is run by the state, and the rules change: wagon supply, loading times, tariffs and export restrictions. We hear about changes on the ground and plan your shipment around them before they cost you money.

Rail to the Caspian

Wagons and containers across Kazakhstan to the ports of Aktau and Kuryk. We book wagons early and watch your loading window.

Caspian and Black Sea

Caspian vessels to Alat and Baku, rail across Georgia, then from Poti or Batumi to Turkey, the UK or deep-sea.

Bulk and bagged cargo

Bulk and big bags transshipped at port, with the hold inspected before loading and photos at every handover.

Documents and duty

Export rules and UK import duty

Kazakhstan sometimes restricts exports of certain goods, and rail rules can change at short notice. We check the current rules for your cargo before you commit. Kazakhstan is not part of the UK Developing Countries Trading Scheme, so goods enter the UK under the UK Global Tariff. Your customs broker confirms the duty for your commodity code.

FAQ

Shipping from Kazakhstan: common questions

Can you ship from Kazakhstan to Africa or South America, not only the UK?

Yes. Most of the 165,000+ tonnes we have moved for our clients went to Turkey, Africa and South America, through the Caspian and the Black Sea ports and then deep-sea.

What if there are no free wagons?

We book early and tell you the moment the wagon situation changes, so you can adjust the loading date instead of finding out after your window has gone.

How long does it take?

It depends on the route, the Caspian schedule and the destination port. Your quote gives a realistic transit time, and the daily update shows any change straight away.

Do you check loading?

Yes. We photograph the cargo, wagons and holds at loading and at every transshipment, and confirm that your handling instructions were carried out.
