Routes

How we move cargo from Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is the hinge of the Middle Corridor: cargo from Central Asia lands at Alat port near Baku before it crosses Georgia. We work this route every week, so we know where it slows down.

Road, full truckload

Full trucks from Baku through Georgia and Turkey to the UK, with fewer handovers for cargo that has to arrive in perfect condition.

Rail to the Black Sea

Rail from Baku across Georgia to Poti or Batumi, then a container line or vessel to the UK or Turkey.

Through Alat port

For cargo moving through Azerbaijan from Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, we coordinate the Caspian arrival at Alat and the onward rail or road leg.

Documents and duty

UK import duty on goods from Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is not part of the UK Developing Countries Trading Scheme, so goods enter the UK under the UK Global Tariff. Duty and VAT are paid on import. We make sure your supplier's export documents and invoice match the cargo before it leaves Baku, so it does not get held at the UK border. Your customs broker confirms the duty for your commodity code.

FAQ

Shipping from Azerbaijan: common questions

Road or rail from Azerbaijan: which is better?

Road is usually faster door to door and has fewer handovers. Rail and sea is usually cheaper for heavy or large volumes. We quote both when it makes sense, so you can choose.

How long does it take?

It depends on the mode, the border crossings and the sea connection. Your quote gives a realistic transit time, and the daily update shows any change straight away.

Can you deliver to Turkey instead of the UK?

Yes. Turkey is one of our regular destinations from Azerbaijan, by road or through the Georgian ports.

Who talks to my supplier in Baku?

We do, in Russian or English. We agree the loading date, check the documents and photograph the cargo at loading.
